Estimates suggest that up to 573,000 birds are killed by turbines each year in the United States alone, with many more injured or displaced. The environmental damage doesn’t stop there, either. Turbines can also disrupt natural habitats, driving out native species and altering ecosystems.

But the problems don’t end there. Wind energy production also has a significant impact on local communities.
