Quantum dots are tiny crystals made from semiconductor materials that are typically between 2 and 10 nanometers in size. Quantum dots can be made from a variety of materials, including lead sulfide, lead selenide, and cadmium sulfide, which are more abundant and cheaper than the silicon used in traditional solar cells.
