As I stand on the edge of the ocean, feeling the salty spray on my skin and listening to the rhythmic crash of the waves, I’m struck by a profound question: what if the answer to our planet’s energy crisis lies beneath our feet? For centuries, humanity has harnessed the power of the sun, wind, and earth to generate energy, but what about the untapped potential of the ocean itself? Can marine energy solutions be the game-changer we need to transition to a sustainable future?

The short answer is yes. Marine energy, also known as ocean energy, refers to the harnessing of energy from the ocean’s tides, waves, and thermal currents. In fact, the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) estimates that ocean energy could generate up to 10% of the world’s electricity by 2050.
