Biomass energy has been around for centuries, with ancient civilizations using wood and other organic materials to fuel their homes and industries. Despite the many benefits of biomass energy, there are also challenges to overcome. One of the main hurdles is the high cost of biomass energy compared to traditional fossil fuels. However, as the technology improves and economies of scale are achieved, the cost of biomass energy is decreasing.

Another challenge is the competition for land use. Biomass energy requires a significant amount of land to grow the crops or collect the biomass materials. This can lead to conflicts over land use, particularly in areas where agricultural land is scarce.
